- Put something soft underneath their head so that it is not damaged during the seizure
- Loosening clothes to ensure comfort and good air flow
- Place on side to avoid chocking in the case of vomiting
- Do not place anything in their mouth to avoid choking
- Time the duration of the seizure, if it is over 5 minutes call 9-1-1
- Look for medical identification that identifies the person as having epilepsy
- If this is the first seizure that you have seen this person have call 9-1-1 and inform loved ones.
- Do not restrain the movements of the seizure as this could be more damaging than helpful
- after the seizure is over the person may exhibit fatigue, confusion or heightened emotions.
